Froggy Alchemist
Game originally made for the Pirate Software July 2024 Game Jam but developed further
The ability to manipulate light is fundamental to all human societies - from windows and curtains, through lamps and their covers, to screens omnipresent in our day to day lives. It is also quite intuitive - we understand that light gets weaker with distance, we know that combining lights of just a few basic colors can create every color we might need.
Optics is important in physics today, but was also important to alchemists - putting ingredients in sunlight or in complete darkness or even separating light to study the spectrum. Colors are fundamental to alchemy: nigredo, albedo, citrinitas and rubedo.
In our game we created puzzles based on the manipulation of lights and shadows, as well as their colors.

- Interesting concept
- Great introduction to the game mechanics, very easy to understand
- Level 4 seems to be a copy of level 2
- Push physics sometimes feel a bit wonky, especially level 7 felt very frustrating
- Not a big issue, but after a few levels I thought you just disabled the potions mechanic. Took a while to realize that small white dots next to potions indicate how many I can throw.
- I really liked level 8, probably because it didn't involve much pushing :)
Thanks for the review 😁
Yeah, the duplicated level is a mistake we noticed after submissions ended 😅 and you might be right, we'll try to make the potions more intuitive. Physics is also something we're working on, we'll make an update after the jam review ends
Super cute and fun
Nevermind. Please post this in the description:
Attention: If you are on the randomizer page for the game jam, Godot projects seem to have issues with playing from there. If it says it has a sharedBufferArray issue please go to the itch page directly. For the author I recommend putting a notice of this in the description.
